Healthier Habits

The Healthier Habits Course began as a pilot initiative at St Clements Primary School, born from the recognition of a growing need within our community. Parents and guardians in Jersey expressed a desire to improve their family's eating habits but often felt overwhelmed by the wealth of conflicting nutrition information available. To address this, our course was designed to demystify dietary advice, simplify healthy cooking, and make nutritious eating accessible and affordable for every family.

About the Course

Our Healthier Habits Course is tailored specifically for parents and guardians who want to foster a healthier lifestyle for their families. Over four weeks, experienced facilitators Rachael, Katey and Bella will guide you through practical, hands-on sessions that cover everything from basic nutrition to smart meal preparation.

Course Highlights:

  • Understanding Nutrition: Learn the basics of a balanced diet and how to read food labels effectively.

  • Economical Shopping: Discover how to shop for the best nutritional value on a budget.

  • Meal Planning Mastery: Acquire skills in meal planning that save time, reduce stress, and keep your family eating healthily.

  • Interactive Sessions: Group discussions with hands-on activities that make meal prep fun and educational - including delicious tasters.

  • Creative Lunchboxes: Get creative with healthy lunchbox ideas that your children will love and can even help prepare.

Course Structure

  • Duration: 4 weeks

  • Session Times: Weekly sessions from around 13:30 to 14:45, synchronised with school pick-up times to facilitate participation.

  • Locations: Initially launched at St Clements Primary School, with sessions now also running at Grouville School.
