Supporting Jersey’s Communities Through Food & Education

One in four children live in relative poverty in Jersey.

Although Jersey is seen as a prosperous island, food poverty is a growing issue. Many families struggle to afford nutritious meals and food insecurity is becoming more widespread - particularly among children.

As a trusted charity tackling food poverty in Jersey, Caring Cooks is dedicated to ensuring that no child or family goes hungry. We provide practical support for immediate food needs while also equipping families with long-term skills to build healthier, food-secure futures.

Limited access to healthy food, a lack of cooking skills, and financial hardship create barriers to good nutrition. We are here to change that—because every child deserves access to the food, skills, and support they need to thrive.

We’re changing this by providing:

Community initiatives – We support vulnerable families through our Weekly Meal Service, Food or Fuel Campaigns and Holiday Hunger Programmes, ensuring no one goes without food when they need it most.

Food education – Our Let’s Get Cooking Programme teaches children essential cooking skills, helping them understand where food comes from and how to prepare nutritious meals.

Practical support – Our Healthier Habits Course gives families the tools and confidence to make healthier choices, building long-term positive habits.

Through hands-on learning and targeted support, we’re creating a healthier, stronger community where every family has access to the food, skills and resources they need. Join us in transforming lives - one meal at a time. Together, we can build a healthier, more empowered community where every child and family has the support they need to thrive.
